In his first ever campaign for Alexander McQueen, photographer Jamie Hawkesworth took to the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland to shoot this hauntingly beautiful Alexander McQueen AW/16 Campaign. The beautiful and enigmatic Argentinian beauty Mica Arganaraz at Viva Model Mgmt, plays out the story like only she can. Shetland is a cluster of islands that lie North-East of Great Britain, 50 miles to the northeast of Orkney and 170 miles southeast of the Faroe Islands. The population of Shetland is estimated to be over 23,210 (*2012 National Records of Scotland), and the largest island is known as Mainland, which has an area 373 sq miles, making it the third-largest Scottish island and the fifth-largest of the British Isles.

Coupled with the rugged coastline and stark terrain of Shetland and Sarah Burton’s aesthetic, the collection imagery looks magical and almost hypnagogic. The campaign was styled by Camilla Nickerson under the art direction of  Mathias Augustyniak & Michael Amzalag.
